Dr. Williams of Spectrios Institute for Low Vision joined the Wheaton Lions this week and shared an inspiring look at their mission — along with the exciting news that Spectrios is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Grateful for their partnership, their passion for expanding access to low‑vision care, and the decades of impact Spectrios has made in our community. Congratulations on 40 years of life‑changing service!

We were honored to have Chris Billingsley, Director of Community and Engagement for DuCAP (DuPage County Area Project), join us as our speaker.

DuCAP’s mission is powerful and deeply aligned with our values:

​

Chris shared meaningful insights about how DuCAP supports youth, strengthens families, and builds healthier, more connected communities across DuPage County.

BRENDA TODD

Organization: Illinois Safe Families

Date: February 17, 2026

We were honored to welcome Brenda Todd, Regional Director of Safe Families for Children as she shared the mission and impact of Safe Families,  an organization working to reframe how families are supported when they’re facing unmanageable or challenging circumstances.

 

Safe Families provides safe, voluntary alternatives for parents so children can remain protected and out of the foster care system, strengthening families through compassion, community, and practical support.

 

We’re grateful for the work they do and for the chance to learn how Lions can continue serving families with purpose and heart.

KATIE SIVAK

The Wheaton Lions were honored to welcome Katie Stivak, Executive Director of the Student Excellence Foundation, as our luncheon speaker this week.

​

Katie shared the incredible work the Foundation is doing to engage the community and enrich educational experiences for students across District 200. Their mission is simple but powerful: empower every student to reach their greatest potential.

​

From innovative classroom grants to programs that support equity, wellness, and learning enrichment, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact on students, teachers, and families right here in our community.

​

We’re grateful for Katie’s leadership and for the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the future of District 200.
