Prior to starting her own firm ten years ago, Maria had considerable experience at other top area law firms and charities, including a Chicago business litigation firm, a boutique tax and estate planning firm in South Barrington, and a business consulting firm. In addition to being a practicing estate planning attorney, Maria also teaches "Estate Planning & Probate" in the Spring and "Elder Law" in the Fall at the College of DuPage. Maria is committed to educating and providing help to those in the DuPage County area.

Each year, the Wheaton Lions Club is invited to Wheaton College for a Thanksgiving luncheon celebration. During this year’s event, Wheaton College history professor Dr. Tracy McKenzie addressed the club with a presentation titled, "The Almighty Has His Own Purpose: Abraham Lincoln's Correction of the Gettysburg Address"
